Week 18 Recap
The final week went out with a bang. Child Please absolutely emptied the clip, dropping 130 points to take 1st place for the week, a fitting mic-drop performance after hovering around the middle of the pack most of the season. Right behind them was Ando’s Army with 111 points, a massive late-week showing that proved critical in the final overall standings. Several others cracked triple digits, but those two clearly set the pace when it mattered most.
Final Overall Standings – Top 5 (All In the Money)
1. Semper Fi – 1833 points
Semper Fi finishes on top by the slimmest of margins, and this title was earned the hard way. No massive collapse weeks, no disappearing acts — just relentless consistency across 18 weeks. While others spiked and faded, Semper Fi stayed above water during the ugly weeks and closed strong enough to edge out the field. A championship built on discipline.
In addition to becoming our 2025/2026 champion, Semper Fi also takes home both the Surivivor and H2H titles! Great season!
2. Baytown Bombers – 1831 points
Two points. That’s it. Baytown Bombers led for large portions of the season and was a weekly threat basically from start to finish. Early dominance set the tone, but a few merely “good” weeks late instead of great ones left them just short. An outstanding season that would win most years.
3. Wolfpack – 1825 points
Wolfpack was the definition of steady. Rarely flashy, rarely disastrous, and almost always lurking within striking distance. A quiet, professional season that ends on the podium.
4. Yooper – 1821 points
Yooper lived in the top tier all year and survived the midseason landmines better than most. Strong early positioning and a reliable finish kept them safely in the money.
5. Ando’s Army – 1820 points
The move of the week — and arguably the season. Ando’s Army rockets up three spots into the final payout position thanks to a clutch Week 18 performance. Perfect timing, zero margin for error, and just enough chaos to knock others out.
Season-Long Observations
-
Consistency beat explosions. Monster weeks were fun to watch, but avoiding disasters was far more valuable over 18 weeks.
-
The middle of the standings was a knife fight. From 6th through roughly 15th, a single bad week could undo a month of solid picks.
-
Late surges mattered — but only with a foundation. Child Please won the week, but Ando’s Army paired a surge with season-long stability and cashed.
-
Nobody won this early. The title was still up for grabs deep into the final weeks, and the final margin proves it.
- The stats pages are available. The Ranks page shows were everyone was in the standings each week and how many weeks they spent in the top 20, top 10, top 5 and top 1. Four of the top 5 finishers spent the entire season in the top 20. Three of the top 5 finishers spent 17 of the 18 weeks in the top 10. Baytown Bombers and Wolfpack spent 17 & 16 weeks respectively in the top 5!
- The APGL page shows the average points per game lost.
- And finally… the Ex-Commish Watch: Despite years of “institutional knowledge,” Ex-Commish finished 60th overall, proving once again that running the pool and winning the pool are two very different skill sets. Still managed to climb a few spots late — just enough to remind everyone he was there, not nearly enough to matter.
Survivor- Semper Fi takes home the title as sole Survivor with a 101-100 victory over Tainto!
Head to Head - Semper Fi cruised in the the H2H championship with a convincing 101-84 victory over You had me at Meat Tornado.
King of the Hill - We ended up with four teams making it all the way to the end (if we ignore the week 14 debacle). Congrats to Arrogant Electricians, Hungry Dawgs, The A Team and Yucking!
